ARTIST NOTES: Bloody Murray is a drone photograph taken at Blanchetown on the Murray River in South Australia. This artwork was a 2019 Art Prize Finalist with the Urban Cow Studio Gallery in Adelaide. The deathly white of tree trunks, the blood colour of the water, the upstream shady shadows and the seemingly drops of blood drip with a deeper context meaning of 'blood money' Some describe this river system as the heart of the nation. The Murray heart is bleeding from the effects of drought and climate change coupled with the failure of the water management authorities to limit the extraction of available water and has created enormous environmental challenges. This is pigment ink photograph on archival quality canvas
